Your Waqrapukara Full Day Tour begins with hotel pickup in Cusco between approximately 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m..
We travel south from Cusco in tourist transportation, passing through Andean valleys, traditional farming communities and beautiful high-altitude landscapes.
Breakfast in Cusipata
Along the way, we stop in Cusipata to enjoy breakfast before continuing toward the Waqrapukara hiking route.
This stop provides time to eat, rest and prepare for the high-altitude trek ahead.
Journey to Santa Lucía & Punta Carretera
After breakfast, we continue through rural Andean landscapes toward the Santa Lucía area and the starting point near Punta Carretera.
Upon arrival, your professional guide will provide a short briefing about the trail, altitude and safety recommendations before beginning the hike.
Hike to Waqrapukara Archaeological Site
The hike covers approximately 2 to 3 kilometers and normally takes around 1.5 hours, depending on your walking pace and acclimatization.
The route crosses open high-Andean landscapes with views of surrounding mountains, valleys and the impressive Apurimac Canyon.
Along the way, you may also see native vegetation, alpacas, llamas and other elements of the traditional Andean landscape.

Upon reaching Waqrapukara, you will discover an extraordinary archaeological complex built into a dramatic natural rock formation above the canyon.
The name is commonly translated from Quechua as “Horn Fortress”, although local interpretations also associate the distinctive rock formations with the ears of a llama.

The hike normally takes approximately 1.5 hours each way on our operating route, but walking time may vary depending on individual pace and trail conditions.
Weather & Visibility Policy
Changing High-Andean Weather
The Waqrapukara Full Day Tour operates in changing mountain weather conditions, including rain, clouds, fog, wind, cold temperatures and light snowfall.
The tour continues according to the scheduled program whenever the access road and hiking trail remain open and can be operated safely.
Clear views of Waqrapukara, the Apurimac Canyon or surrounding mountains cannot be guaranteed.
Rain, clouds, fog or limited visibility do not qualify for a refund, rescheduling or alternative tour when the service can still operate.
Only an official road closure, exceptional safety restriction or situation that makes the route impossible to operate may affect the scheduled service.
If an exceptional operational restriction occurs, our team will communicate the applicable procedure after the situation has been confirmed.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
The following conditions apply when the passenger voluntarily cancels the reservation.
At Least 24 Hours Before Departure
Cancellations requested at least 24 hours before departure are eligible for a 100% refund of the tour amount.
Within 24 Hours but Before 7:00 p.m.
Cancellations received within 24 hours of departure but before 7:00 p.m. on the day before the tour are eligible for a 50% refund.
After 7:00 p.m. on the Day Before Departure
Cancellations received after 7:00 p.m. on the day before departure are non-refundable
