Your Manu 4 Days Tour begins early in the morning with hotel pickup in Cusco at approximately 5:30 a.m..
We travel through the Andes Mountains, passing traditional communities, agricultural valleys, and impressive mountain landscapes as we begin the journey toward the Manu region.
Ninamarca Pre-Inca Chullpas
One of our first cultural stops is the archaeological site of Ninamarca, where ancient pre-Inca funerary towers provide an introduction to the civilizations that inhabited this part of the Andes before the expansion of the Inca Empire.
Paucartambo
We continue toward the colonial town of Paucartambo, an important cultural destination known for its traditional architecture, historic streets, and strong connection with Andean customs. Your guide will provide information about the history and traditions of the town before we continue toward the high mountains.
Acjanaco – Entrance to Manu
The journey reaches Acjanaco Pass at approximately 3,500 meters above sea level, one of the highest points of the route and the gateway toward the Manu rainforest. From this point, the scenery begins a dramatic transformation as we descend toward the Amazon basin.
Manu Cloud Forest
We enter the spectacular cloud forest, a humid mountain ecosystem filled with orchids, butterflies, waterfalls, dense vegetation, and remarkable birdlife. During selected observation stops, we will search for wildlife such as monkeys, hummingbirds, tropical birds, and the famous Andean Cock-of-the-Rock.
Wild animals move freely in their natural habitat, so specific sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Arrival at the Jungle Lodge
By the afternoon, we reach Pillcopata or a nearby jungle lodge, where the climate becomes warmer and more tropical. After settling into your accommodation, enjoy dinner and your first night surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

After breakfast, we begin another day of exploration through the tropical environments of the Manu Cultural Zone.
Cloud Forest & Wildlife Observation
Guided walks through the forest provide additional opportunities to discover orchids, tropical plants, birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. Your guide will explain the relationships between the plants and animals found in this ecosystem while searching for species such as howler monkeys, toucans, hummingbirds, and other rainforest wildlife.
Atalaya Port
We continue toward Atalaya Port, the starting point for the river section of our Amazon journey. Here, we board a motorized boat and begin navigating along the Madre de Dios River.
Amazon River Navigation
During the boat journey, enjoy panoramic rainforest scenery and watch the riverbanks for tropical birds, monkeys, reptiles, and other wildlife. Macaws, parrots, herons, kingfishers, and other bird species may be observed depending on natural conditions.
Arrival at the Jungle Lodge
Upon arrival at our jungle lodge, we settle into the accommodation and enjoy lunch. The surrounding rainforest provides additional opportunities for short guided walks, birdwatching, nature interpretation, or simply relaxing while enjoying the sounds of the Amazon.
Optional Night Walk
After dinner, an optional guided night walk may be offered. The jungle becomes completely different after sunset, providing opportunities to observe frogs, insects, spiders, nocturnal birds, and other rainforest creatures.

Early-Morning Wildlife Observation
The day begins early, one of the best times for birdwatching and wildlife observation when many rainforest species are more active. Your guide will help identify birds, monkeys, plants, and other wildlife while explaining the ecological relationships within the Amazon forest.
Machuwasi Lake
After breakfast, we visit Machuwasi Lake, an oxbow lake surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. We explore the lake by canoe or traditional raft, moving quietly through the wetland while searching for aquatic birds, monkeys, reptiles, and other wildlife. Possible sightings may include hoatzins, herons, kingfishers, monkeys, caimans, and other species associated with this Amazonian habitat.
Rainforest Activities
After lunch, continue exploring the jungle through guided trails where you can learn about medicinal plants, tropical trees, local ecosystems, and traditional knowledge of the rainforest. Depending on the day’s activity and local conditions, there may also be opportunities for additional wildlife observation or a visit to a parrot clay lick.
Natural Hot Springs
Later in the afternoon, enjoy time at the natural hot springs, where you can relax in warm waters surrounded by tropical vegetation after a day of rainforest exploration.

The final day begins early in the morning with one of the most interesting wildlife experiences of the Manu 4 Days Tour.
Parrot Clay Lick
We visit a parrot clay lick, where parrots and other colorful birds may gather naturally along mineral-rich clay banks. This behavior provides an excellent opportunity for birdwatching and photography, although the number of birds and level of activity depend entirely on natural conditions.
Breakfast & Return Journey
After the wildlife experience, we enjoy breakfast and begin the return journey. We travel by boat toward Atalaya, enjoying one final opportunity to observe the river landscape and wildlife along the banks.
Cloud Forest Return
From Atalaya, we continue by tourist transportation through the cloud forest and Andes toward Cusco. The return route provides another opportunity to appreciate the dramatic transition between the Amazon rainforest and high-Andean landscapes.
Optional Conservation Stop
Depending on timing and operating conditions, a stop may be made at a wildlife rescue center or interpretation center to learn more about Amazon conservation efforts.
Arrival in Cusco
Arrival in Cusco is expected at approximately 6:00–8:00 p.m.. The exact time may vary depending on traffic, road conditions, river conditions, and the pace of the day’s activities.
