Detailed Itinerary – Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu 2 Days
Day 1: Sacred Valley VIP Tour with Connection to Machu Picchu
🚐 Hotel Pickup & Departure
Your adventure begins with a hotel or Airbnb pickup in Cusco between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. We will travel by comfortable tourist transport to the traditional Andean town of Chinchero, located about 45 minutes from Cusco.
🏺 Chinchero: Andean Culture & Textile Traditions
Our first stop is Chinchero, a charming town famous for preserving ancient Inca traditions. Here, we visit the Inca archaeological site and the colonial church, built on original Inca foundations.
You will also enjoy a visit to a local textile workshop, where artisans demonstrate ancestral weaving techniques using natural dyes and traditional looms—an authentic cultural experience of the Cusco region.
🌾 Moray: Inca Agricultural Laboratory
Next, we head to Moray, one of the most unique archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. The impressive circular terraces were used by the Incas as an agricultural research center to study crop adaptation at different altitudes.
Enjoy a guided explanation followed by free time for exploration and photography.
🧂 Maras Salt Mines
We continue to the spectacular Maras Salt Mines, made up of more than 3,000 salt ponds that have been harvested since Inca times. These salt pools are still owned and maintained by local families.
You’ll have time to walk through the area, learn about the salt extraction process, take photos, and purchase salt-based souvenirs.
🍽️ Buffet Lunch in Urubamba
Around midday, we arrive in Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley, to enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant. The buffet offers a wide variety of Peruvian dishes, including vegetarian and vegan options.

🏰 Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site
After lunch, we travel to Ollantaytambo, one of the most important and best-preserved Inca sites in Peru. This ancient town served as a military, religious, and agricultural center.
We take a guided tour of the archaeological complex before heading to the train station.
🚆 Train to Machu Picchu Pueblo
In the afternoon, we transfer to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes).
Train departure is typically between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., depending on ticket availability.
Travel time: approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.
🏨 Arrival & Hotel Transfer
Upon arrival in Machu Picchu Pueblo, hotel staff will meet you at the train station holding a sign with your name and escort you to your hotel.
Enjoy free time to relax at your hotel.
At around 7:30 p.m., your professional guide will meet you at the hotel to provide a detailed briefing and final coordination for your Machu Picchu guided tour on Day 2.
Day 2: Machu Picchu Guided Tour – Return to Cusco
After breakfast, we will take the bus for a 30-minute scenic ride up to the Machu Picchu Archaeological Sanctuary.
Enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu lasting approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, where you will visit the most important areas of the Inca citadel, including the Main Plaza, Circular Tower, Sacred Sun Dial (Intihuatana), Royal Quarters, Temple of the Three Windows, and the quarries.
After the guided visit, you will have free time to explore the site on your own and take photos.
Later, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you may optionally visit the hot springs. In the afternoon, board the return train at 7:00 pm to Ollantaytambo. From there, we will continue by bus back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 11:00 pm.
