Detailed Itinerary – Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu 2 Days

Day 1: Sacred Valley VIP Tour with Connection to Machu Picchu

🚐 Hotel Pickup & Departure

Your adventure begins with a hotel or Airbnb pickup in Cusco between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. We will travel by comfortable tourist transport to the traditional Andean town of Chinchero, located about 45 minutes from Cusco.

🏺 Chinchero: Andean Culture & Textile Traditions

Our first stop is Chinchero, a charming town famous for preserving ancient Inca traditions. Here, we visit the Inca archaeological site and the colonial church, built on original Inca foundations.
You will also enjoy a visit to a local textile workshop, where artisans demonstrate ancestral weaving techniques using natural dyes and traditional looms—an authentic cultural experience of the Cusco region.

🌾 Moray: Inca Agricultural Laboratory

Next, we head to Moray, one of the most unique archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. The impressive circular terraces were used by the Incas as an agricultural research center to study crop adaptation at different altitudes.
Enjoy a guided explanation followed by free time for exploration and photography.

🧂 Maras Salt Mines

We continue to the spectacular Maras Salt Mines, made up of more than 3,000 salt ponds that have been harvested since Inca times. These salt pools are still owned and maintained by local families.
You’ll have time to walk through the area, learn about the salt extraction process, take photos, and purchase salt-based souvenirs.

🍽️ Buffet Lunch in Urubamba

Around midday, we arrive in Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley, to enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant. The buffet offers a wide variety of Peruvian dishes, including vegetarian and vegan options.
Approximate lunch time: 1:00 p.m.

🏰 Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site

After lunch, we travel to Ollantaytambo, one of the most important and best-preserved Inca sites in Peru. This ancient town served as a military, religious, and agricultural center.
We take a guided tour of the archaeological complex before heading to the train station.

🚆 Train to Machu Picchu Pueblo

In the afternoon, we transfer to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes).
