Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley ATV Tour

4:00–4:30 a.m. – Hotel Pickup in Cusco

Your Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley ATV Tour begins with early pickup from selected hotels and coordinated locations in Cusco between approximately 4:00 and 4:30 a.m..

Once the group is complete, travel south through the Andean countryside toward Cusipata.

Breakfast in Cusipata

After approximately two hours of travel, stop in the Cusipata area for an included breakfast.

This is an important opportunity to eat, hydrate, and prepare before continuing toward considerably higher elevations.

Transfer to the ATV Base

After breakfast, continue by tourist transportation toward the high-altitude ATV operating area.

The exact driving time can vary according to road and weather conditions.

ATV Safety Briefing & Practice

Before beginning the adventure, your guide will explain the controls, braking, acceleration, safe riding distance, and important rules for operating the ATV.

You will then complete approximately 15 minutes of supervised practice before entering the mountain route.

25-Minute ATV Ride Through Red Valley

Once everyone is comfortable with the vehicles, begin the approximately 25-minute ATV ride through the Red Valley sector.

Ride through an extraordinary high-Andean environment surrounded by red-colored mountains, valleys, grazing alpacas and llamas, and views toward the surrounding Vilcanota range.

Final Walk to Rainbow Mountain

Leave the ATVs at the designated parking area and continue on foot toward Vinicunca.

The final hike normally takes approximately 30–40 minutes. Although the distance is relatively short, the elevation above 5,000 meters can make the walk physically demanding.

Rainbow Mountain – Vinicunca

Reach the main Rainbow Mountain viewpoint and enjoy time to rest, take photographs, and appreciate the distinctive mineral layers that created Vinicunca’s famous colors.

Your guide will provide information about the surrounding mountain environment, local communities, and the natural formation of the landscape.

Return Through the Red Valley

After the visit, begin the walk back toward the ATV parking area.

Board the ATVs once again and ride for approximately 20–25 minutes through the Red Valley route toward the operating base.

Lunch in Cusipata

Continue by tourist transportation to Cusipata and enjoy an included lunch before returning to Cusco.

Return to Cusco

Arrival in Cusco is expected at approximately 4:00–4:30 p.m..

The exact time may vary according to traffic, weather, road conditions, and the pace of the group.
